Week two

It is offically spring. We have even had a few thunderstorms to prove it. Every day the trees get greener, and prettier. It has actually been a slow week. We took a drive to Pittsburg which is about twenty minutes away. And despite its name, it is a really pretty town. The mainstreet is really pretty. We also drove by Valentown in Victor, which is also very close. Valentown is this really old hotel that is suppose to be haunted. Just looking at it, it looks haunted! It apparently made it on to Ghost Busters and theres a segment on youtube. Sounds creepy to me! I am really liking my job so far, though I do have a lot of down time. So....I started writing a book...again. As of yet, I have yet to finish any of the books I have started, but I already have most of this one playing out in my head...so we'll see!

Week One

Wow, spring in New York! Could I get any luckier?! I think not. The trees are just starting to blossom and it is just beautiful! This has been a pretty slow week. I have just started training at the front desk. The hotel is a small but pretty hotel. Its a little wierd to live here, but I am adjusting. I jsut have to ignore the babies that scream up stairs! (ok, so that was just one day...I'll survive!) I've had some fun experiences already. Friday night, one of the girls that workds here took me to a near by resturant so that I can start suggesting places to people. It was pretty good, but right before we got our food, the electricity went out! It was crazy! We ended up eathing our food in the dark. The whole block was out! The server brought us out a candle to eat with. Yesterday we played ultimate frisbee for 3 hrs. it was crazy, but fun. I was exsausted by the time we finished. Also took a walk to the sacred grove. (see picture at right) Its so cool to be right next door! The singles branch here seems fun. But the funniest things was today about 8 guys walked in and every girls head snaped back to watch. Apparently, they were new. Turns out they are all from BYU-i and are selling security systems here. The branch just doubled in size.

My new neice

On my way to New York, I got to play a little "Aunt Rachel" to my Nephews Parker (6) and Reed (1...next week) and my niece Bailey (one month) it really was exciting! Those two boys kept me on my toes! Parker had me playing cars, football, soccer and basketball. He's pretty good...even when he doesn't cheat. At one point during a fun game of football, Parker decided he wanted a break. So he said "lets go sit in the shade for a couple of hours." During our time in the shade he asked me how old I was and when I told him he said "whoa, that's a really big number." Talk about making you feel old! Well, I guess to a seven year old, anything with two digits seems old. Bailey is a sweet little girl. She is a very pretty baby, and she looked adorable in her blessing dress. Reed was so cute to watch playing. He started tackling his six year old cousin. And seeing him play on construction equipment was so cute! Hopefully they all love me as much as I love them!
